Hi, I’m Max.

I’m an educator, coach, and historian, in that order. I’m currently wrapping up a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies and History at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned my M.A.T. in Social Studies Education at Boston University. I spent five years as a high school teacher in diverse classrooms in the Greater Boston Area, teaching in fully-inclusive settings and learning how to best support each of my students’ individual needs.

I’m proof that the core academic skills—time management, organization, productivity, study habits, and self-advocacy—are learned. I wasn’t a very good student until my senior year of college, not because I wasn’t capable, but because I hadn’t yet developed the skills I needed to showcase that capability. My own journey informs how I approach supporting my students. Whether leading high school or college classrooms or in one-on-one coaching, I’ve realized that personalization and encouragement are central to individual growth.
